The Pinewood Derby!

Today was our Cub Scout's Pack Pinewood Derby race day. It was a lot of fun. Ben, Dad and I have been working away on his car. We were rather shocked to see that Ben's car came in first on his first race and then to have won 3 out of his 4 races. We thought with the wheels wobbly that the car never really had a chance and compared to the rest of the cars his didn't look well cut. The car had to be 5 oz or below and on the first weigh in it was a little over 4 oz, so Dad added the rest of the weights to the back of his car and I think that made the winning car. Ben's car was the third fastest in his Den and won the "Sportiest" car. In all he was #14 out of 34 cars. Not too bad at all for his first year!

It Has Been Awhile!

It has been a while since I last posted and I have no excuses. Since Christmas we really have not done anything special. We just try to hang out with Dad as much as we can while he is still here. We have been hanging out at the park and at home. There is Daddy time every other day. The kids get to snuggle in our bed with just Dad for that night until I get to bed... there really isn't any room for me!

Last weekend we got to help Dad pack for his big adventure. The kids liked to see what Dad had in his tuff box. Not sure if they were of any help though. But they enjoyed being with Dad.

There have been some projects that Ben and Emily have had to do. Emily had to bring a poster with 100 items on it and so we decided to do paper cranes. Mom folded ALL 100 of the paper cranes. Whew! I don't want to fold any more! Emily helped count and glue them on the poster.

Ben and Dad have been busy building Ben's Pinewood Derby car. It has been a good experience for both of them. I am just thankful that I do not have to do it all by myself or it would have been a block of wood with maybe some rounded corners and wheels. The race for the Pinewood Derby cars is at the end of the month at the city park. The finishing touches still need to be added like the wheels and the weights, but turned out to be a great 'Ben 10' themed car!

Ammon seems to be growing. He is cruising all over. We are hoping Dad gets to see his first steps. Yesterday was a big day for Ammon. He had an "Ah Ha Moment" and figured out that instead of screaming and not getting what he wants that if he signed for what he wants he might get something. So he has been very good at showing what he wants. Makes it easier for Mom. Ammon also got to experience his first kitchen sink bath last night as well. It was an exciting experience!
